 Legalize prostitution

Legalize Prostitution

By

James Bredin

Let’s legalize marijuana, euthanasia and prostitution,

Call it oncoming political emerging evolution,

Hookers could do business plus tax in a very safe place,

And okay if you wanted to die or smoke up -- it’s your case.

I realize of course that these ideas are not fantastic,

While tax-and-spend traveling politicians behave bombastic,

But do nothing controversial and never go to bat,

No binding referendums or recall or anything like that.

But we’ll need binding referendums to get these policies passed,

Believe me; our hesitant politicians would then stand fast,

And oppose all these changes no matter how worthy they are,

Attend meetings with friends and call these changes as gone too far.

 The soft court system

The Soft Court System

By

James Bredin

Most homeless types can’t be bothered trying to get a job,

Many are busy panhandling or the occasional assault and rob,

Never go to jail because appointed judges give them bail,

And compliant politicians know that this continues to prevail.

And the people look on helplessly at a system gone soft,

No recall, no referendums and too busy using Microsoft,

The revolving-door bail system cannot be altered or changed,

And criminals walk free though they could be armed and deranged.

It doesn’t matter how many previous bails or guns are involved,

To the appointed justices of the peace, everything is solved,

And if other people are killed by these criminals walking free,

The public will just have to bow their heads and everyone agree.

 A society of sheep

A society of sheep

By

A society of sheep will eventually get leaders who are lions

No recall or binding referendums – just compliance,

Absent ideology but party discipline and pumped up fear,

UN-NATO obligations that are never quite open or clear.

Transparency in government is what politicians abhor,

Because ethics and accountability might show on the floor,

And the people might realize what this is all about,

That this parliamentary side show runs without much clout.

Appointees and bureaucrats do exactly what they are told,

No need for honest debate, referendums or recall in this mould,

Court system run by elitists behind a publication bans,

Apathetic public is not allowed to know the plans.

 Politicians from Hell

Politicians from Hell

By

James Bredin

Why on earth should we attract politicians all the way from hell?

Tax-and-spend and travel bureaucrats as far as we can tell,

Pompous pushy pirates except for maybe one or two,

I can’t remember who they are and I bet, neither can you.

And to hell with logic and no need for normal common sense,

Tell the crowd we have democracy and they’ll be less tense,

Mould their opinions with a special hidden TV agenda,

Increase the fear factor with pompous propaganda.

Politically biased left-wing media helps their cause,

Mischievous misinformation and worse, just because,

Polygamy coming our way and abortion already here,

Four or more wives and lots of dead babies without fear.

These politically correct politicians who just don’t care,

Pump out pompous platitudes about their agenda, so beware,

Never mention single welfare mothers or ghetto dudes,

And for a vote, they’ll sell their souls, so don’t you dare intrude?

Should we pull out of the Afghanistan peacekeeping war soon?

Could it be a referendum question and what an opportune?

Because long ago I lost track of what this war is all about,

Though politically correct politicians know, no doubt.

 Our complacent politicians

Our complacent politicians

By

James Bredin

Our tax, travel and spend politicians should all be told,

Cut down on the travel expenses or get kicked out in the cold,

Big names, big spenders, taxpayers’ money, celebrity status,

Apathetic people seem to all but assist this apparatus.

Public avoid holding the government accountable,

As if these problems and tribulations were insurmountable,

But suddenly they respond near an approaching election?

Could referendums or recall change their present direction?

Why do they stand on guard against this type of suggestion?

Is it too much to bring it up in parliament -- this question?

Would referendums and recall cramp their celebrity style?

Their goods and services tax and spend and travel all the while.

Have we become too complacent to ask questions about their rule?

Eight soldiers on TV carrying another soldier’s coffin is not cool,

Are we allowed to think about democracy or change the rules?

Does democracy count in their games or are we all complete fools?
