We lost democracy a long time ago
By
James Bredin
Most Canadian politicians we have, should be replaced,
They tend to tax and spend and go on trips and are always two faced,
But without recall, we wait for a distant future election,
And they can do what they like till then and we have no protection.
They manipulate public opinion and reason and logic,
Public relations specialists manage all their lies like magic,
No need for common sense when the facts are broken and bent,
Pick a UN NATO war, any conflict, so the troops can be sent.
We should have binding referendums to guide them on their way,
It should be our agenda – not theirs --to keep them from going astray,
And their soft-on-crime judicial appointees should be told,
Terrorists and criminals stay in jail until they grow old.
We tend to be programmed by their constant hidden agenda,
Put out by their press barons in their daily propaganda,
Or with our eyes constantly glued to their CBC TV screens,
We become a part of their international programmed routine.
Where no one can talk back or even ask one question,
Probably impolite to show political aggression,
But they need to listen to us or to take our advice,
But instead we are trained to be obedient disciplined mice.
