 Toronto's Regent Park

Don't tell anyone you saw this

Toronto’s Regent Park

By

James Bredin

They’re going to revitalize Regent Park so it’s not a slum,

They want condos up to the sky so no more noise or shouting bums,

But they done it before long ago and their plans went awry,

Low-income and no-income ghetto and still they don’t know why.

But this time they say it’s different and they’ll mix it up,

Change the name to be politically correct and not so rough,

Condos mixed with welfare housing they say will be so nice,

Otherwise they’ve have made the same mistake in the same place, twice,

Because they had the same high hopes back in nineteen forty nine,

Even before Trudeau’s left wing Charter for crooks came on line,

And the face of the pretty fat girl said it with a smile,

Sometimes it’s easier to believe their lies once in a while.

Human Rights Commissions 4

No one paid much attention as we went slowly down the drain,

Politically correct so no one bothered to complain,

Loopy left wing politicians pretending that they care,

Random bullets, soft-on-crime judges and criminals who dare.

Gangbangers want respect or they are very likely to kill,

You or me or their other gang guys or anyone at will,

Because criminals and gangbangers have Charter of Rights up to here,

And hundreds of legal-aid lawyers so they have little to fear.

And the media must have permission from a politician,

So someone formed a Human Rights Commission inquisition,

But torture, the rack and the gulag is not yet their style,

Maybe sue you or take you to Supreme Court for a while.

Human Rights Commissions 3

Random bullets in downtown Toronto could cause your demise,

Your sudden death from a passing bullet could be a big surprise,

And those who do the shooting could claim all their Charter Rights,

To soft-on-crime judges and legal aid lawyers delights.

And they wonder why Canadians might be confused when they vote,

Charter of Rights for criminals that was pushed down our throats,

No referendums, political recall or anything like that,

Where Human Rights Commissions pointing fingers are up to bat.

Could a country go Stalinist because of Human Rights?

In a spasm of quasi judiciary organization delights,

Where freedom of speech is forever Commission controlled,

Where you better shut up, bow low and do what you’re told.

Canadian Human Rights Commissions 2

Could Human Rights Commissions bring about our downfall?

Politically correct government appointees one and all,

Could they make Stalin’s Gulag courts look like easy time?

Pointing the finger at Canadians but not at those in crime.

Could a great country be destroyed by a Charter of Rights?

Obviously written for criminals, left wingers and the likes,

Where politically appointed soft-on-crime judges decide,

With thousands and thousands of legal-aid lawyers on side.

Great nation caught in the spider web of events we can’t change,

No referendums or political recall, so we can’t rearrange,

Waiting for a no-date election where there is no hope,

Change the faces and hope there is no brown envelope.

At risk of random bullets

By

Canadian courts and judges like a publication ban,

They don’t like being published so they do it when they can,

To maintain order, isolation and keep the public out,

Because soft-on-crime decisions could bring in lots of doubt.

With no minimum sentence for guns and gangs, they tend to walk,

While politicians appoint more judges and talk the talk,

Many criminals have minority Charter Rights and legal aid,

Everything being politically correct so they have it made.

While soft-on-crime politicians are worried about at-risk youth,

They’d sell their souls for a vote, then sell you and me to boot,

Forbidden binding referendums will never be in style,

Men have been killed by random bullets on Toronto streets meanwhile.
