 A Change in the Tide

A Change in the Tide

By

James Bredin

Was that last American election enough to change the tide?

Hardly noticeable at the time but we’re all along for the ride?

Will these changes eventually take two or three years?

Will we get it right or wrong this time with no reason for tears?

Will the monster military memory of might still pervade?

Is a healthy democracy enough for us to persuade?

Or is a healthy economy reason enough to stay at war?

For the flag, jobs, honour, justice and democracy afar.

Will the Ministry of Defence still be master of events?

Deciding where and when to go and what will be spent?

To prove once again that military might is always right,

And bad guys, no matter who or where they are, should come out and fight.

Does anyone have the answers or will America be alone?

Is this an illusion of information that’s largely unknown?

Is human rights far away, reason enough to be involved?

Or are we in UN or NATO hands to get it all solved?

 Liberal Leadership

Liberal Leadership

By

James Bredin

The lying Liberals are having a predicament these days,

The entails of the adscam scandal and their crooked ways,

Coming back to haunt them when they want to strut their slimy stuff,

Because they want to tax and spend again and never get enough.

And then they want to go down to the United Nations,

Or buy more cheap submarines that burn on Atlantic stations,

And most of all they mean to be a majority once more,

With another monster prime minister like before.

Their multicultural policies pushed with a smile,

They did it for fifteen years and that’s a terribly long while,

Through all the countless scandals all pushed under the rug,

Accusations and allegations always met with a shrug.

They don’t know whether to call Quebec a nation or not,

They’ll do anything; say anything, so long as they don’t get caught,

Their pretence of moral superiority was their shtick,

With enough scandals under the rug to make anyone sick.

Billions set aside for their Kyoto credit points,

Hidden foreign aid to every communist left-wing joint,

They sent the adscam ransom to their friends in Quebec,

Stopped when the scandal found out and we can’t even check.

 America Alone

America Alone

By

James Bredin

I hear Mark Steyn wrote a book called America Alone,

The politically correct types prefer that this was unknown,

They want it censored, banned or burned because it’s offensive,

It must be a great book if they are that apprehensive.

Full of inflammatory and Islamophobic slander they say,

Probably extremely offensive racist candor by the way,

They say it’s full of hate and probably disgusting,

Left-wing activists want politically correct adjusting.

Still others say it’s irresponsible to have this book in public,

It should be forbidden in Canada and the US Republic,

And the CBC seems in complete xenophobic shock,

Not the type of directions they give their left-wing flock.

Some want to suppress and censor all his information,

These ideas can’t be spread to the Canadian congregation,

Because he might expose the status quo for what it’s worth,

Left wing multicultural liberal political hell on earth.

 Toronto Gridlock

Gridlock

By

James Bredin

Gridlock could describe a daily Toronto traffic jam,

City paralyzed by politicians who don’t give a damn,

Bumper to bumper, 4-wheel drives lined up for miles,

Slowed to a stand still, engines purr but no one smiles.

Politicians catering to panhandlers in dreadlocks,

Little communist committees don’t think about gridlock,

They ride bicycles or walk because they live down town,

And those who commute through the gridlock are just clowns.

They are going to pass a Toronto bylaw one day soon,

Everyone has to have a TTC pass by next June,

That’s the only way to ease the traffic situation,

Normal people would do this in absolute desperation.

And if the place where you work is off the beaten track,

You can walk for miles and miles but watch out for an attack,

Because criminal panhandlers and street people are bold,

Now read this poem carefully and do what you’re told.

We’ve been coming to this stage for almost fifty years,

We need someone like Mayor Mel and some engineers,

To come back and tell us and show them what to do,

Expand the subway system which is long overdue.

 Our Biased Managed Media

Our Biased Managed Media

By

James Bredin

They feed us their information in special small amounts,

What they think we should think -- about what really counts,

And we are no more than sheep being led here and there,

Pumped up on their propaganda about our national affairs.

As these journalists allege that only they can tell the truth,

And their left-wing communist papers are not uncouth,

Everything slanted along Marxist United Nations lines,

We can’t think for ourselves and we can’t see the signs.

The terrorists have now all moved to Africa they say,

So we should follow them now, right away, come what may,

They want us in Darfur by next week or there about,

Because UN aid agencies are being killed and pulling out.

We can’t deport terrorists because they might be at risk,

No need for Amnesty International to be angry or brisk,

The UN or G8 should rule because they are so clever,

Illegal aids refugees to Canada and stay forever.

We can’t have callbacks or cutbacks or a set election date,

It’s an American idea and probably full of right-wing hate.

Can’t change the Charter because it’s nailed to a wall,

Don’t think about your future because the media will make the call

And if you’re a journalist who doesn’t tow the line,

You may be unemployed tomorrow morning at nine,

They’re into multiculture and francophonie you see,

Pious left-wing policies so get down on one knee.

With this biased managed media nothing is left to chance,

Soft on justice, Charter Rights, political song and dance,

Elected senators or Supreme Court judges might seem strange,

Where term limits and flat tax could eventually be arranged.
