 What could influence your decision

What Could Influence your Decisions?

By

James Bredin

The polling companies ask several leading questions,

Biased towards their friends with a few slight suggestions,

Improper phrasing of their suggestions so their polls are skewed,

Then they publish their special findings of what you conclude.

They want to herd us together like a flock of their sheep,

This way or that way or their way to make us creep and cheap,

Then the mainstream media and the CBC try to set it in cement,

To influence us this way or that way and tell us we’re content.

As we are coerced towards their socialist communist causes,

Ideologically bent and biased and beholden in hidden clauses,

Their survey shows that their special-interest groups are right,

And their activists are even here on the web with great delight.

 North American Unification

North American Unification

By

Is North American unification a go or not?

Is this good or something someone said and then forgot?

Can we trust our politicians as they strut up and down?

How about sovereignty, the border, allegiance to the crown?

How about medicare in case, God forbid, I or mine get sick?

Is it possible that all this could be some political trick?

How about bureaucrats who tend to always interfere?

Quote statistics, write reports that are never really clear.

What about leadership; does anyone up there even care?

Has the media or CBC mentioned this or are they even aware?

What about Ottawa; what would happen over there?

Would they move to Washington and become a major player?

Is this good or bad or should we just up and shut up?

Should we tell our politicians to go ahead or back up?

Should we have a referendum on this important topic?

They’re busy attending a meeting somewhere in the tropics.

 Canadian Voting

Voting

By

James Bredin

We should be enthused about voting in this democracy,
And those who don’t or refuse, should be taxed accordingly,
Otherwise, special-interest media bias wins the day,
And their possible corrupt politicians are paid to play.

Therefore those who bother to vote should be given some proof,
To put in with their tax return and feel a little aloof,
At least a hundred dollar break on their dreadful income tax,
So they feel democracy is worth it and maybe relax.

It may not change the system but it will change politicians
Because more than twenty percent will vote in these conditions,
And if these small changes are allowed, I can think of more,
Australians are required to vote and they know the score.

 War Torn Places

War Torn Places

UN peacekeeping in Rwanda, Somalia and Srebrenica failed,

The same thing happening in Afghanistan so time we bailed,

Peacekeeping is a nice name for a war and we all agree,

But without a front line and lines of coffins on nightly TV.

We need referendums and recall for politicians now,

A system to change and not have to wait till we’re allowed,

Why should we behave and believe like we’re half asleep?

Democracy means nothing when we act like a flock of sheep.

Wall to wall propaganda we are fed both day and night,

Politically correct and pompously polite and so right,

And if you have to think about this, you are obviously wrong,

So quickly and quietly believe and join the gung-ho throng.

The UN has other peacekeeping places if we only concur,

The usual war in Somalia the Congo or Darfur,

The UN has a list of other places they’d like to interfere,

Call it peacekeeping on some war torn distant frontier.

Toronto the Good and the Bad

Toronto the Good and the Bad

They want to tear down the Gardner Expressway now,

And they want us all to accept their findings and allow,

When at last they told us about their billion dollar plans,

Have to double your taxes; now those in favor put up your hands.

Because the Gardner is now spoiling their view of the Lake,

And the noise is a mistake and keeping some of them awake,

Just the study cost a million dollars and that was a steal,

But the final unknown overall cost is still tightly concealed.

They have now proposed a flat ten-lane highway instead,

With drawings of a tree lined avenue on a big wide spread,

With pedestrians and few cars -- out of touch with reality,

A graphic illustration of their out of touch mentality.

The Gardner traffic is in almost total gridlock right now,

This constant rush-hour traffic will have to go somewhere else somehow,

And if half the city has to close down, that’s just too bad,

They want their view of Lake Ontario and that’s quite sad.

Another illustration of a lack of leadership here,

From councilors to the mayor to the provincial premier,

Someone somewhere should stand up and tell them where to go,

The answer to their question about the Gardner is a big fat no.
