Political Appointments

By

James Bredin

Soft-on-crime appointees can’t see the phrases on the wall,

Allowed prisoners to vote with lots of free phone calls,

They never met a dangerous criminal they didn’t like,

Tell homeless panhandlers with AIDS to do what they like.

And they love all the terrorist refugees they can find,

Seldom deport them which has left us in a bind,

And those who carry guns sometimes get a slap on the wrist,

Some system as they stand and salute with a clinched fist.

You may be the victim of these goody-two-shoe ways,

Appointees never admit this till the end of their days,

Same soft headed types seem to have a hidden agenda,

Leave you buried in the soup of pompous propaganda.

Send someone to Africa for more refugees,

More unwed mothers with kids who are sick please,

And send our tax dollars to dictators over there,

To build up their Swiss bank account which they never declare.

And then you might ask if we are mentally ill?

Toronto based journalists who should take a pill,

Advise public sector appointees about money,

If this wasn’t so serious, it could be funny.

 Socialist Newspapers

Socialist Newspapers

By

James Bredin

Newspapers written by special-interest socialist types,

Daily propaganda pumped out in their agenda hypes,

Fear mongering about global warming and UN stuff,

The end of the world could come and we haven’t done enough.

These days its global warming and global human rights,

On the other side of the world in the middle of the night,

Far away over there but they want us all involved,

And that AIDS crisis over there has got to be solved.

As though the weight of these problems is on our shoulders,

We should read their papers and accept their orders,

Send billions to remote dictators way over there,

And at the UN they’ll say that we’re a major player.

We’re so lucky that they are on hand to give us advice,

And their left wing journalists seem so very precise,

Liberal to the core, they love their politicians,

Little commissars pushing communist conditions.

Just Passing Through

By

James Bredin

We are all locked in time together just passing through,

The rich, the poor, the strong, the dour even those with tattoos,

The pompous, the pious, some still searching for a prophet,

Still others are on the side trying to make a profit.

We are all very equal in that we are bound to die,

Regardless of our religions and no one can deny,

The powerful and powerless are the same when it’s over,

But how to improve things before we’re pushing up clover?

Democracy might work it's what dictators hate,

They want to stay in power and never never debate,

Though the United Nations tends to cater to this group,

While the rest of the world is left out of the loop.

It doesn’t matter the size or shape of your tomb,

There is no coming back to change things or resume,

Even clever dictators will eventually die,

Democracy may be nice but how do we apply?

If the UN cannot change things, should they be shut down?

Like Saddam’s oil-for-food scandal – no longer around,

Global taxation introduced in the Kyoto Accord,

Send money to dictators while democracy ignored.

 Da Vinci Code

Da Vinci Code

What’s this all about in that book Da Vinci Code?

Has it caused such a change in our subservient mode?

Especially women; present at the church’s foundation,

Those same still denied the sacrament of ordination.

Has the power of the Church been dragged into question?

Once the inquisition would have stopped this suggestion,

Because only those who have the faith, know the truth,

The remainder is fictional secularism and uncouth.

Did someone change the early gospels way back then?

Additions, deletions, changed or buried by pen,

No known Gnostic stuff and what did Constantine change?

Was Jesus and Mary Magdalene an item rearranged?

They said Mary Magdalene was a hooker at that time,

Then they changed their minds back in nineteen sixty nine,

More altered additions and deletions to behold,

What’s right; what’s wrong and what else should we be told?

Who are they who question the foundations of the faith?

What changes were hidden in the gospels in those dates?

Can’t question the celibacy of pompous priests,

A job where women are not allowed by the prince of peace.

And those Gnostic guys, they say got it completely wrong,

Booted out of the Church because they didn’t belong,

Secularism, feminism and Internet today,

Causing sacrilegious problems that won’t go away.

Arrogance of Nuclear Nerds and Politicians

Arrogance of Nuclear Nerds and Politicians

By

James Bredin

Sometimes they scream that our Candu reactors are safe,

But don’t ask too many questions and no debate,

They want you to believe their government propaganda,

So there’s no need to ask questions about their agenda.

And wind power is a maybe because they have decided,

What if we had a calm day and the winds subsided?

And who are you to ask questions about technical stuff?

This interview is finished because we’ve had enough.

Dishonorable Ontario politicians and ignoble,

Is it possible they learned nothing from Chernobyl?

While nuclear nerds like to talk high tech kilowatt hours,

Can’t mention Three Mile Island or wind towers.

Dalton is going to phase out the coal burning plants,

As usual he is flying by the seat of his pants,

Tax and spend like mad amid stupid nuclear decisions,

No recall, no referendums and no revisions.

We don’t need much power they say in Kyoto Accord,

Because of adscam Liberal decisions and reward,

But why were Bruce 1 and Pickering A closed down

Was it heat, cold, radiation or should we stick around?
